I’ve been trying to do the Lawn Fawn challenges over the last few months – partly because it gives me an excuse to buy more things, but also because I find it fun to have a direction. As Lawn Fawn are celebrating their twelfth birthday this month, their latest challenge is to create something birthday related. I love challenges like this as they’re generic enough to give you lots of creativity. For my card, I used three of the Lawn Fawn stamp sets, as well as their dies, glue, acetate – lots of things! A full guide is below.

Making the Card
I started off by die cutting two rectangles using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Die. I cut one out of stamping card and one out of a piece of light yellow Woodgrain Whimsy Paper. Next, I used the porthole die to cut a circle in the top middle of the light yellow rectangle, and then a porthole out of a piece of darker yellow Woodgrain Whimsy Paper. Wow that’s a mouthful, I apologise. Finally, I cut a square of acetate out to cover the hole. I attached this to the back of the light yellow paper, and glued the porthole on top.
Next I blended Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide onto the white rectangle, and used the Lawn Fawn waves stencil with the Salty Ocean Distress Oxide to add waves on top. I also covered a scrap piece of white card in Salty Ocean Distress Oxide and set this aside for later for my sentiment.
My next step was to stamp some images. I used a selection from the Lawn Fawn Ocean Shell-fie and You Are Sublime stamp sets, and stamped these using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and an acrylic block. Next, In cut them out using my Scanncut and coloured them in with Copic markers before finally sticking them to my Distress Oxide blended background. I then attached the front of my card to the background.
Finally I stamped my sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Mermaid For You set using VersaMark Ink onto the scrap piece of card I mentioned earlier. I covered this with white Wow embossing powder and heat set it. I then fussy cut around it and glued it to the card.
Reading the above back I apologise for how terrible I am at writing out instructions so I’ll apologise again. Hopefully I’ll get better at this with time. This was a really fun Lawn Fawn challenge though, and I can’t wait to see what other designs people put forward.
