I’ve been in a bit of a sewing hole lately, so I haven’t really had the time to make any cards. Last night, though, I really fancied doing some colouring and ended up coming up with this super simple friendship card. It’s ideal for sending to a friend I’ve not seen for a while, or even to someone who’s feeling a bit down at the minute. And, it only took a couple of hours to make – which is fast for me!
Supplies I Used
- Mama Elephant Zodiac Rooster stamp set

- Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide
- Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide
- Twisted Citron Distress Oxide
- Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide
- Lawn Fawn Glue Pen
- Crafters Companion tape pen
- Lawn Fawn Rainforest Ink Pad
- Memento Black Ink Pad

Making the Card
To create my ‘Hey Friend, Just Chicken In’ card, I started off by die cutting two rectangles using the largest Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle die. I kept one for the background, and cut the second one again using the grass die from the Heffy Doodle slimline set. I then blended Salvaged Patina and Tumbled Glass Distress Oxides to make the sky on my large rectangle, and Mowed Lawn and Twisted Citron Distress Oxides to make the grass.
Next, I stamped three of the chickens and some fries from the Mama Elephant Zodiac Rooster stamp set onto some Snow Leopard White Crafting Card using Memento Black ink. I used this card for the background too as it’s honestly amazing for both colouring and ink blending – it’s the best I’ve found so far in the UK. I coloured these in using my Copic Sketch markers, cut them out, and glued them onto my card base.
Once this was done I realised just how much space I had at the top of the card. So, rather than using the whole sentiment that came with the Mama Elephant set, I cut the words ‘Hey Friend’ out of pattern paper using the Lawn Fawn Henry’s Alphabet dies. This was my first time using these, and I love how narrow they are. Finally, I stamped the second part of the sentiment ‘Just Chicken In…’ to my card using Lawn Fawn Rainforest Ink.
Finally, I cut a piece of Heffy Doodle Banana Split cardstock in half, scored it down the centre, and folded it into a card. I then attached my card base to this using Crafters Companion double sided tape. I love how this card turned out, and the Just Chicken In’ sentiment is perfect.
