A friend of mine has just given birth to a little girl and I wanted to make a new baby card for her to celebrate the occasion. However, when pulling out my stamp sets, I realised I don’t have any new baby stamps (enter face palm emoji here). However, rather than order more supplies that I really don’t need at the moment, I decided to look through the sets I own. In doing so, I found a really cute hamster being held up by balloons in the Mama Elephant Celebration Hamsters set. To me, this seems like a cute twist on the storks delivering babies legend, and I think (hope) it works.

Making the Card
I started this card by stamping the hamster from the Mama Elephant Celebration Hamsters stamp set onto Crafter’s Companion Stamping Card using Memento Tuxedo Black. Next, I cut the stamp out and coloured it in using Copic Sketch markers.
I then moved on to the dies. First I cut a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 rectangle using the largest Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die from CenturaPearl purple cardstock. I then used the Sunny Studio Bursting Hearts die on some CenturaPearl pink cardstock, and trimmed this down again using the Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die. Finally I used the Mama Elephant Snail Mail die to cut some more CenturaPearl purple cardstock.
Next, I glued all of the die cuts together and used double sided foam to add the hamster to the card to add some dimension.
I then moved on to the sentiment. I thought the ‘It’s Your Birthday’ sentiment from the Mama Elephant Wishes Enclosed set was perfect for a new baby card, so I stamped this using Versamark Ink onto some Stamping Card, covered it in Purple Cosmic Shimmer embossing powder and heat set it. Finally I cut this out using the coordinating die. I attached the finished sentiment to the card using more foam strips.
To complete the card, I cut a piece of Heffy Doodle Bubblegum Blush card in half and scored it down the middle. I then attached my topper to the card base. I stamped the ‘You Are One in a Million’ sentiment from the Mama Elephant Wish Upon a Star stamp set to the interior of the card, and the ‘Just For You’ sentiment from the Lawn Fawn Just For You stamp set to the back.
Somehow I ended up with another monotone design, but I’m really happy with this new baby card and hope my friend likes it.
